The Delves Kitchen Cafe
JHA Architecture were appointed by Thorne and Moorends Town Council as lead Consultants, Designers and Principal Designers, to deliver the refurbishment of a local vacant café, from inception to fruition.
The Delves Kitchen Café is located in a small town - Thorne, within Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Adjacent to the café is a popular fishing pond from where the Cafe derives it's name “The Delves”, which is also used as a recreational grounds for dog walkers and general social recreation.
The brief was to design a modern open plan café, with a separate room available for meetings or social events. With additional externally accessed welfare facilities for the general public use. JHA’s end goals were to bring a local disused café back to life, incorporating the external amenity space available, to create a bright and open space for the locals to visit and have lunch. Installation of a large coroner curtain wall allowed for views over the delves ponds, as well as introducing more light into a previously dark room.
